Kerry G. Johnson is an experienced cartoonist, caricaturist, graphic designer and humorous illustrator. He is an award-winning artist whose work has been published in local and national publications and on web sites. His art career started when first drew cartoons for his high school yearbook in his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Those cartoons eventually lead him to be able to draw a weekly strip for the Nashville Banner newspaper. Kerry's first job as a “paid” illustrator was drawing caricatures at the Opryland Entertainment Park in Nashville. He is currently the Art Director and Director of Special Publications Manager at the American Physical Society in College Park, Md. Before joining APS, he worked as the newsroom graphics director at the Baltimore Sun newspaper. Before joining the Sun, he worked as graphics editor for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and as a graphic reporter at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He also has worked at other news organizations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Washington, D.C. As an experienced visual journalist and designer, Kerry has played a major role in numerous award-winning feature page layouts, illustrations and information graphics centerpieces. While in Pittsburgh, Kerry drew editorial and political cartoons for national publications and did other freelance design and humorous illustration projects. His cartoons for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and New Pittsburgh Courier newspapers have been included in the annual Pelican Publishing's “Best Cartoons of the Year” book by Charles Brooks.
